Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on statistical models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market relies on individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs about the exact score. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when public opinion strongly diverges from the sportsbook's initial assessment. It’s common to see prediction markets incorporate information and perspectives not fully captured by traditional oddsmakers.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each possible exact score. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's efficiency depends on active participation and the flow of new information, influencing how quickly prices adjust to reflect changing expectations about the RS Gimnástica vs. UD Ourense match.
