Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market is driven by traders directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. If there's a significant discrepancy, it may indicate that PredictionHero users have access to different information or interpret the available data differently than sportsbooks. It’s common to see markets converge closer to the event time as more information becomes available and opinions solidify.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more shares bought for a particular outcome, the higher its price becomes, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated based on the collective intelligence of the traders participating.
