Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook offerings. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and attempt to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the opinions of many individual traders. This can lead to prediction market prices being more accurate, particularly as the event approaches and more information is incorporated. However, sportsbook odds can sometimes offer value, especially if they diverge significantly from the prediction market’s assessment of probabilities.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Rothes or Brora Rangers will score first. As more shares are bought for one outcome, its price increases, and the price of the other outcome decreases. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring, allowing traders to express their views and profit if their predictions are correct. The market's price is determined entirely by supply and demand among traders on the platform.

This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team is officially recorded as scoring the first goal in the Rothes FC vs. Brora Rangers FC match. The official match records will serve as the definitive source for determining the winning outcome. Any disputes will be handled according to Polymarket’s standard procedures for verifying event outcomes.

Several factors could significantly impact this market. Late-breaking news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Rothes or Brora Rangers would likely cause shifts in the odds. Changes in weather conditions, particularly if they favor one team’s playing style, could also influence trader sentiment. Additionally, any pre-match analysis from reputable sports analysts suggesting a clear advantage for one team could drive trading activity and move the market. Finally, significant betting action in traditional sportsbooks could also spill over and affect prices on Polymarket.
