Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, aiming to profit regardless of the outcome. This market, however, is driven purely by the collective predictions of traders, theoretically representing the true probabilities as perceived by the crowd. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply variations in the participants involved. It’s common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information than sportsbooks, as traders can instantly adjust their positions.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice-versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd, constantly updating as new information becomes available and traders adjust their positions based on their analysis of the Ivan vs. Ivan match.

This market resolves around Oct 16, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result of the Ivan vs. Ivan match, as declared by the governing sports authority. The platform will then verify the result against these sources to determine the winning outcome. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will be entitled to a payout, while those holding shares in the losing outcome will forfeit their investment. This process ensures a transparent and verifiable resolution.

Several factors could influence the trading activity in this market before Oct 16, 2026. Any news regarding the physical condition of either Ivan, such as injuries or illness, would likely cause significant shifts in the odds. Changes in coaching strategies, or announcements about the playing conditions could also impact trader sentiment. Unexpected results in other matches involving these players, or even broader shifts in public opinion, could also contribute to price movements. Monitoring these signals will be key to understanding how this market evolves leading up to the event's conclusion.
