Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can often differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks may incorporate factors like marketing promotions or biases, while this market relies on individuals directly expressing their beliefs about the outcome. If there’s a significant difference, it could indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced the probability of either player winning. Comparing these odds can offer valuable insights for informed decision-making, though it's important to remember both represent probabilities based on different methodologies.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of a particular player winning. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and express their views, the price adjusts to represent the collective forecast. The market’s price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and is not influenced by external factors or other prediction venues.
