Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective wisdom of traders on Polymarket, aims to reflect the true probability of each outcome. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market’s odds evolve in real-time as new information and opinions are factored in by participants. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially as the event approaches.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the aggregated predictions of all participants, making it a valuable indicator of potential results.

Changes in surface conditions or weather forecasts (if applicable) could also impact perceptions of each player’s chances. Unexpected results in other matches involving these players leading up to the event could shift sentiment. Finally, large trading volume on Polymarket from informed traders could signal a change in expectations and drive price fluctuations.
