Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets aim to represent the true probability of an event occurring, as determined by traders. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbook odds in accuracy, especially when a large volume of traders participate. However, it’s important to note that discrepancies can occur due to differing opinions and information available to each group. This market offers a unique perspective on the likely outcome.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the collective wisdom of those trading on Polymarket, and changes dynamically based on supply and demand. This creates a market-driven assessment of the potential winner of the Rodin vs. Avraham match.
