Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance their risk, while this market allows traders to openly express their beliefs about the outcome. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced an outcome, the odds on Polymarket will adjust accordingly. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before a lot of money has been traded on either side, as the market seeks to find a fair price based on collective information and analysis.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each outcome. As more shares are traded, the price of each share fluctuates, reflecting the collective assessment of the crowd. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a 'yes' share, for example, indicates the market's implied probability that the specified outcome will occur in the Rochdale vs. Swindon second half. The more traders who believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of its corresponding shares will climb.

This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The result of the Rochdale vs. Swindon second half – whether Rochdale wins, Swindon wins, or the half ends in a draw – will be used to determine the winning shares. The platform will verify the official result against publicly available sources to ensure accuracy and transparency. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will be paid out according to the final share price at resolution.

Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market. Any news regarding team form, injuries to key players on either Rochdale or Swindon, or changes in tactical approaches could shift trader sentiment. Unexpected events during the first half of the match, such as red cards or early goals, would also likely cause significant movement. Even broader factors like weather conditions on match day could play a role, as could public perception and analysis from sports commentators leading up to and during the game.
