Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks typically set odds to maximize profit, incorporating a margin for themselves, and may be influenced by public betting patterns. This market, however, reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. While sportsbooks may initially have different odds, they often adjust as the event approaches, potentially converging with the prediction market’s assessment. It’s valuable to compare both to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the likely result.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders deposit collateral and buy or sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the Gaston vs Kjaer match. As more shares are traded, the price of each share fluctuates, reflecting the collective probability assigned to that outcome. The more traders who believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of its corresponding shares will climb.
