Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, driven by the collective intelligence of traders on Polymarket, aims to represent the true probability of each outcome. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, prediction markets can quickly adjust to new information and potentially outperform sportsbook odds as more traders participate and share their insights. It’s common to see discrepancies, especially before a significant event.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Volendam or Rohda will score first. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share represents the probability of that outcome occurring, scaled to a value between 0 and 100. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the aggregated wisdom of the crowd, constantly updating as new information becomes available and traders adjust their positions.
This market resolves around Oct 29, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the RKAV Volendam versus RKSV Rohda Raalte match. Official match reports and verified sources will be used to determine the winning outcome. Traders who hold shares in the correctly predicted team will receive a payout based on the final market price at the time of resolution, while those holding shares in the losing team will forfeit their stake.
Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market. Any news regarding team injuries, suspensions, or changes in team formation could significantly shift trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day could also play a role, potentially favoring one team’s playing style over another. Furthermore, pre-match analysis from sports commentators and analysts, even if not directly reflected in sportsbook odds, can influence trader behavior. Finally, large volume trades by individual participants on Polymarket could create short-term price fluctuations.
