Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, but may also incorporate a margin for profit. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading based on their own research and beliefs, potentially leading to odds that more accurately reflect the true probability of an event. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information access, biases, or simply varying interpretations of the available data. It's common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information than sportsbooks.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Real Sociedad or Granada will score first. As more shares are purchased for one outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher implied probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adjust to incorporate new information and changing sentiment.

This market resolves around Oct 4, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on which team, Real Sociedad or Granada, scores the first goal in the match. If no goal is scored by either team, the market will resolve as 'no goal scored'. The official match records will serve as the definitive source for determining the first goalscorer, ensuring a transparent and verifiable resolution process for this market.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Any news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Real Sociedad or Granada would likely cause shifts in the odds. Team form, recent match results, and tactical changes announced by the managers could also impact trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, or even pre-match analysis from respected football commentators, could trigger movement. Finally, significant trading volume itself can create momentum, driving prices up or down as traders react to each other's actions.
