Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring profit regardless of the outcome. This market, however, represents the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the event. As a result, the odds on Polymarket may differ from sportsbook lines, potentially offering value to informed bettors. It’s common to see prediction markets more accurately reflect true probabilities, especially when there’s significant public information available and a diverse range of participants.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders who believe a particular team will score first, the higher the price of shares representing that outcome will rise. Conversely, if sentiment shifts, the price will adjust accordingly, reflecting the changing expectations of the market participants. This dynamic pricing ensures the market remains responsive to new information.

This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will determine which team, RC Strasbourg Alsace or Paris Saint-Germain FC, scores the first goal during the first half of the match. The result will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. The resolution process is designed to be objective and transparent, ensuring a fair outcome for all participants in this market.

Several factors could influence the price movement of this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either RC Strasbourg Alsace or Paris Saint-Germain FC would likely have a significant impact. Changes in team formations or tactical approaches announced before the match could also shift expectations. Furthermore, general match-day news, such as weather conditions or referee assignments, might cause traders to reassess their predictions. Even public sentiment and analysis from sports commentators could contribute to price fluctuations in this market.
