Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds offer a distinct perspective compared to traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, representing their profit margin. This market, however, is driven purely by the collective wisdom of traders, theoretically resulting in more accurate probabilities. While sportsbooks might initially set odds based on team statistics and expert analysis, this market dynamically adjusts as new information and opinions emerge. It's common to see differences, especially as the event draws closer and more traders participate.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Celta or Alavés will score first in the second half. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each outcome. As more traders buy shares in one outcome, its price increases, while the price of the other outcome decreases. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adapt to the latest information and collective sentiment regarding the match.

This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the outcome will be determined by identifying which team – Celta de Vigo or Deportivo Alavés – scores the first goal in the second half of the match. The result will be based on official match data and statistics, ensuring a transparent and verifiable resolution process. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final outcome.

Several factors could influence this market before resolution. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Celta or Alavés would likely cause significant shifts in the odds. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments, or even weather conditions on match day could also impact trader sentiment. Unexpected lineup announcements or pre-match analysis highlighting a specific team's attacking prowess could further contribute to movement in this market. Monitoring these signals will be crucial for anyone looking to capitalize on potential opportunities.
