This market assesses whether specific running backs will rank among the top five scorers in full-PPR fantasy points during Week 5 of the 2026 NFL regular season. It tracks individual player performance across rushing, receiving, and other statistical categories to determine if they meet the high-scoring benchmark for that week.
Each market resolves to "Yes" if the named running back finishes within the top five in total full-PPR fantasy points for all eligible RBs in Week 5 of the 2026 NFL regular season, using Sleeper's scoring system including overtime points. Players who do not participate that week are considered to have scored zero points. In cases where multiple players tie for the fifth position, each tied player's contract settles at a fractional value based on the number of tied players (e.g., 1/2 for two tied players). The scoring format includes detailed point allocations for passing, rushing, receiving, kicking, defensive/special teams contributions, and individual player special teams/fumbles.
Generally, prediction markets and sportsbook odds both aim to reflect the probability of an event occurring, but they arrive at those probabilities through different mechanisms. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own analysis and incorporate a profit margin, while this market relies on the collective wisdom of traders who are incentivized to accurately assess probabilities. Often, prediction markets can offer a more accurate reflection of true probabilities, especially as an event approaches and more information becomes available. However, sportsbook odds are readily accessible and provide a useful benchmark for comparison.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing the probability of a running back finishing in the top 5, and the price of each contract fluctuates based on supply and demand. As more people buy a contract, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability of that outcome. Conversely, increased selling pressure lowers the price. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The current price reflects the aggregated beliefs of all participants trading in this market, offering a real-time assessment of player performance expectations.
This market resolves around Oct 13, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official fantasy point totals for NFL Week 5 are verifiable from credible public reporting. The top 5 running backs based on those official fantasy point totals will determine the winning contracts in this market. Resolution will occur after the conclusion of all NFL Week 5 games, allowing sufficient time for accurate fantasy point calculations and verification. The final standings will be the definitive factor in determining the market’s outcome.
Several factors could significantly influence this market before it resolves. Injury reports are a major catalyst; news of a key injury to a top running back would likely shift probabilities towards their backups. Unexpected changes in team usage – for example, a running back receiving a significantly increased workload – could also drive price movements. Additionally, late-breaking news regarding matchups or weather conditions could impact expectations. Finally, large volume trades on Kalshi itself, indicating strong conviction from traders, can also create momentum and shift prices.
