Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. If a significant discrepancy emerges between prediction market probabilities and sportsbook odds, it may indicate that the market believes the sportsbook has mispriced the event, or that new information hasn't fully been incorporated into sportsbook lines. It’s a valuable comparison for informed bettors.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Rayo Vallecano or Elche will score first in the second half. As more shares are bought for a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting a higher probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. The market dynamically adjusts as new information becomes available and traders update their assessments, creating a real-time probability assessment of the event.

This market resolves around Oct 24, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Specifically, the market will determine which team, Rayo Vallecano or Elche, scores the first goal in the second half of the match. The result will be based on official match data and verified against credible public sources. Any goals scored during extra time or a penalty shootout will not be considered for the purpose of resolving this market.

Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Rayo Vallecano or Elche would likely have a significant impact. Changes in team formations or tactical approaches announced before the match could also move the market. Even weather conditions on match day, if they are expected to heavily favor one team’s playing style, could influence trader behavior. Additionally, any significant shifts in public sentiment or expert analysis regarding the teams’ chances could drive volume and price changes.
