Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of bettors, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or risk assessments. If significant differences emerge, arbitrage opportunities may exist for those who can trade on both platforms. It’s important to note that prediction markets allow for trading up until the event's resolution, influencing the final probabilities.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice-versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date collective intelligence. The current price indicates what traders, as a group, believe is the likelihood of a specific player winning the Janicijevic vs Mandlik match.
