Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, driven by traders on Polymarket, aims to reflect the true probability of an event occurring, as participants are incentivized to make accurate predictions. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market dynamically adjusts based on the collective wisdom of its participants, potentially revealing discrepancies or offering more accurate probabilities as the event approaches. It's useful to compare both to form a well-rounded view.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Qingdao or Dalian will score first. As more shares are purchased for a particular outcome, its price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of each share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome, allowing traders to express their views and profit if their predictions are correct. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds constantly adapt to new information and changing sentiment.

This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team officially scores the first goal in the Qingdao vs. Dalian match, as recorded by official match statistics. Any potential disputes will be evaluated based on widely accepted soccer rules and data sources. The platform will verify the result and distribute payouts to those who correctly predicted the first scoring team, based on the share ownership at the time of resolution.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. News regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Qingdao or Dalian would likely cause significant shifts in the odds. Changes in team form, such as recent wins or losses, could also impact trader sentiment. Unexpected weather conditions on match day, or even pre-match tactical announcements from the managers, could introduce new information that alters predictions. Any major developments related to team morale or internal conflicts might also move this market as traders react to perceived changes in performance likelihood.
