These markets focus on predicting the outcome of the fourth quarter in a college football game between Purdue and Illinois, specifically how many points each team might win by during that final period.
The markets resolve based on the point differential in the fourth quarter (excluding overtime) of the Purdue vs Illinois college football game scheduled for October 3, 2026. Each market corresponds to a specific point threshold, with outcomes ranging from Illinois winning by more than 1.5 to 10.5 points, and Purdue winning by more than 2.5 to 10.5 points. Only points scored in the fourth quarter count toward resolution. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, the markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines to balance action and ensure profit, while this market is driven purely by individuals’ beliefs about the likely outcome. Often, prediction markets are more accurate than traditional polls or analyst predictions, as they incentivize participants to be well-informed and express their true beliefs. However, sportsbook odds represent another valuable data point when forming your own opinion on the Purdue vs Illinois spread.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that spread occurring at the end of the fourth quarter. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy contracts for a particular spread, the price increases, indicating a higher perceived probability. Conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to efficiently aggregate information and reflect the collective expectations of participants regarding the final score differential.
This market resolves around Oct 3, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final point spread will be determined by the actual difference in scores between Purdue and Illinois at the conclusion of the fourth quarter. The market will settle to 100 for the contract corresponding to the correct spread, and 0 for all other contracts. Traders holding contracts on the winning spread will receive a payout, while those holding contracts on losing spreads will forfeit their investment.
Several factors could influence the Purdue vs Illinois spread between now and game day. Any news regarding key player injuries on either team would likely have a significant impact, as would updates on team strategies or changes in coaching decisions. Unexpected weather conditions could also play a role, potentially affecting the style of play and the final score. Furthermore, public perception and shifts in betting patterns can drive movement in this market, as traders react to new information and adjust their predictions accordingly.
