Frequently asked questions

Frequently, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. This is because prediction markets aggregate the wisdom of the crowd, reflecting a broader range of information and analysis than a sportsbook’s internal models. While sportsbooks set odds based on their own estimations, this market allows anyone to participate in setting the price, potentially leading to more accurate probabilities, especially as the event approaches. It's common to see discrepancies between the two, with prediction markets sometimes identifying mispriced outcomes.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where users buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether Preston or Millwall will score first. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective intelligence of the crowd. The market’s depth and volume indicate the level of confidence traders have in their predictions, and the price movements can signal shifts in sentiment as new information becomes available.

This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The team that scores the first goal in the Preston North End FC vs. Millwall FC match will be declared the winner. The resolution will be based on official match data, ensuring a transparent and accurate determination of the result. Traders will then be able to claim their winnings based on the final outcome and their positions in this market.

Several factors could influence the price of this market before the match begins. Any news regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Preston or Millwall would likely cause significant movement. Changes in team form, tactical adjustments, or even weather conditions could also impact trader sentiment. Unexpected announcements about starting lineups, or even pre-match analysis from respected football commentators, could all contribute to shifts in the odds. Monitoring these signals will be crucial for anyone looking to trade in this market.
