Frequently asked questions

Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own analysis and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. As more information becomes available, and as more traders participate, the odds on Polymarket may converge with, or diverge from, sportsbook odds depending on differing assessments of the players' chances. It's common to see prediction markets outperform traditional odds-makers over time.
