Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while Polymarket allows traders to directly assess probabilities. This can lead to discrepancies, with this market potentially offering more favorable odds depending on the perceived value. It’s common to see prediction markets reflect the ‘wisdom of the crowd’ more accurately than initial sportsbook lines, especially as new information becomes available. Comparing the two can be a useful exercise for informed decision-making.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous trading mechanism where participants buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information emerges, the price will fluctuate, providing a real-time assessment of expectations. The current price indicates the market's collective forecast for the PPA Mixed Doubles match.

Any news regarding player injuries, changes in team strategy, or performance in preceding matches could shift trader sentiment.
