Description

This prediction market asks users to forecast which team, Portland Timbers or Charlotte FC, will score the first goal in their upcoming match. A 'Neither' option is also available if no goal is scored within the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time.

PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Unified Resolution Criteria (Consistent across platforms)

Both platforms utilize identical resolution criteria, focusing on the first goal scored within the standard match duration and providing clear fallback procedures for data sourcing.Primary resolution logic: Official statistics of the event as recognized by the governing body or event organizers, with fallback to Flashscore, Sofascore, and credible reporting.

Core resolution logic:

  • The first goal scored during the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time determines the winner.
  • If no goal is scored within the first 90 minutes of regular play plus stoppage time, the market resolves to 'Neither'.
  • Postponements will extend the market until the game is completed.
  • Cancellations will resolve the market to 'Neither'.

Edge cases & clarifications:

  • Data Availability: If official statistics are unavailable within 2 hours of the match's conclusion, Flashscore data will be used. If Flashscore data is unavailable, Sofascore data will be used. If neither is available, a consensus of credible reporting will be used. If no acceptable data is available within 24 hours, the market will resolve 50-50 (or 'Draw' where applicable).
  • Score Revisions: Revisions to officially declared final scores made *after* market resolution will not be accounted for in determining the outcome.
Timing: Resolution will occur as soon as the official match result is available, with a maximum delay of 24 hours due to data sourcing fallback procedures. Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds, like those found for this market, often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while prediction markets allow traders to freely express their beliefs. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when public sentiment strongly diverges from the sportsbook’s initial assessment. The spread between prediction market probabilities and sportsbook odds can sometimes indicate opportunities for arbitrage, though transaction costs and platform fees should be considered.

Prices for this market on Polymarket and Predict can diverge due to several factors. Polymarket and Predict can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Each platform attracts different traders with varying risk appetites and information sets, leading to differing valuations. Trading volume also plays a role; higher volume on one platform can indicate stronger conviction and potentially influence the price. Additionally, the specific mechanisms for price discovery – how traders place bets and how odds are calculated – differ between Polymarket and Predict, contributing to these price discrepancies. The current volume is $10.
