This set of markets tracks the total points scored by both teams in an upcoming college football game. Each market corresponds to a different point threshold, allowing participants to speculate on whether the combined score will exceed various benchmarks.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by Portland State and Idaho State in their college football game scheduled for October 24, 2026. For each market, if the combined score exceeds the specified threshold (ranging from 42.5 to 82.5 points), the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, the markets remain open and resolve according to the final official result. If the game does not start within this 48-hour window, all markets will resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the specific outcome.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading based on their own insights and information. Therefore, differences can emerge as new information becomes available or as public perception shifts. It’s common to see prediction markets react more quickly to news than traditional sportsbooks.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous double auction, meaning traders buy and sell contracts representing different total point outcomes. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and exchange contracts, the prices adjust to reflect the collective assessment of the game's likely total points. The market dynamically adjusts based on supply and demand, providing a real-time estimate of the event’s probability.
This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final total points scored in the Portland St. vs Idaho St. game will be used to determine which contracts pay out. The market will settle to 100 for the correct total points range, and 0 for all others. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the winning outcome will receive a payout based on the contract’s price at resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Portland St. or Idaho St. would likely cause movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favoring high or low scoring, could also impact trading activity. Furthermore, late-breaking news about team strategies or coaching decisions might prompt traders to reassess their predictions. Public sentiment and analysis from sports commentators could also contribute to shifts in this market.
