These markets track the potential margin of victory in an upcoming college football game, allowing participants to speculate on how decisively one team might outperform the other. Each market corresponds to a different point differential threshold that must be exceeded for the bet to pay out.
All markets resolve based on the official final point differential from the Portland St. vs Idaho St. college football game scheduled for October 24, 2026. If Idaho St. wins by exceeding the specified point margin defined in each market, that market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If Portland St. wins, all Idaho St.-win-by-margin markets resolve to No regardless of the margin. For markets where Portland St. must win by a certain margin, resolution depends solely on Portland St.'s victory margin. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, all markets remain active and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants under unforeseen circumstances.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market aggregates the opinions of many individual traders. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before a significant amount of volume is traded. These differences can present opportunities for arbitrage, where traders attempt to profit from the price differences between the two types of markets. However, as the event approaches, the odds on both sides tend to converge.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about the final spread. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy contracts for a particular spread, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust to changing sentiment. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as they profit if their predictions are correct.
This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final spread will be determined by the official result of the Portland St. vs Idaho St. game, as reported by a trusted sports data source. The market will then settle based on whether the actual spread falls within the ranges defined by the contracts traded on Kalshi. Traders holding contracts on the correct side of the spread will receive a payout.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either Portland St. or Idaho St. would likely cause movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they are expected to significantly impact the game, could also shift the spread. Public sentiment, reflected in betting trends and expert analysis, will play a role. Finally, any significant line movements in traditional sportsbooks could prompt traders to reassess their positions and adjust their bids and asks on Kalshi.
