Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect a different set of information and incentives than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while prediction markets allow traders to directly bet against each other. This can lead to differences in implied probabilities, particularly as new information emerges. While sportsbooks may initially set odds based on expert analysis, this market’s odds are driven by the collective wisdom of traders responding to news and developments surrounding the Players Championship match.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders can buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market odds are constantly updated to reflect the latest information and sentiment surrounding the Players Championship match.

This market resolves around Nov 5, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final result of the Players Championship match will be used to determine the winning outcome. The platform will verify the result against widely available sources to ensure accuracy and transparency. Traders holding shares in the winning outcome will be entitled to a payout, while those holding shares in the losing outcome will forfeit their investment.

Several factors could influence the price of shares in this market before resolution. Any news regarding player form, injuries, or changes in strategy could significantly shift trader sentiment. Unexpected results in preliminary matches or changes in weather conditions could also play a role.
