Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks frequently incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, which represents their profit margin. This market, being driven by individual traders, can sometimes reflect a more accurate assessment of probabilities, particularly as new information emerges. However, it’s important to remember that both prediction markets and sportsbooks are subject to biases and differing opinions. Discrepancies can arise due to varying levels of information, analytical approaches, and risk appetites among participants.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of each outcome. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand within Polymarket, and reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd participating in this particular market. This dynamic pricing allows for a constantly updated assessment of the match’s potential results.
