These markets track the performance of defensive players in a specific football game by counting how many times they successfully tackle the opposing team's quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. The outcomes depend on whether each team reaches various sack thresholds during the match.
The markets resolve based on the total number of sacks recorded by each team in the Pittsburgh vs New Orleans Pro Football game scheduled for October 25, 2026. A sack is counted when a defensive player tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage during a regular play, excluding sacks on two-point conversion attempts. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve according to the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, the markets resolve to a fair price. Each market corresponds to a specific sack threshold for either Pittsburgh or New Orleans; if the team records at least the specified number of sacks, that market resolves to Yes, otherwise No.
Generally, prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk management, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before significant events or breaking news. These differences can arise from varying levels of information or differing interpretations of available data. Comparing this market to sportsbook odds can be a useful exercise for informed decision-making.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes for the total number of sacks. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy contracts for a particular outcome, the price increases, and vice-versa. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust probabilities in real-time, providing a forward-looking assessment of the event’s potential.
This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final number of sacks recorded during the Pittsburgh versus New Orleans game will be used to determine the winning contract. The resolution will be based on official game statistics, ensuring an objective and transparent outcome. Traders will be able to see the final result and any associated payouts shortly after the game concludes and the official statistics are released.
Several factors could influence trading in this market. Injury reports for key offensive linemen or defensive players on either team would be significant catalysts. Any news regarding changes in coaching strategies or weather conditions expected during the game could also impact the perceived likelihood of sacks. Unexpected news about player availability, even late in the week, can cause rapid shifts in the market. Ultimately, any information that alters the expected performance of the offenses and defenses could move this market.
