Two professional basketball teams compete in a game where bettors can wager on which team will lead at halftime. The outcome depends solely on the scoring during the first half of the match.
This market resolves based on which team leads at the end of the first half of the designated professional basketball game. If Philadelphia scores more points than Boston in the first half, the Philadelphia market resolves to Yes. If Boston scores more points than Philadelphia in the first half, the Boston market resolves to Yes. If both teams score the same number of points in the first half, the Tie market resolves to Yes. For all markets, only points scored during the first half count. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the market remains open and resolves based on the official result. If the game is cancelled or does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi is not affiliated with the governing league, and all trademarks belong to their respective owners.
Often, prediction market odds reflect a different perspective than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, ensuring a profit margin, while this market allows traders to directly assess probabilities. If a large number of traders believe a particular team is more likely to win the first half than implied by sportsbook odds, the price of a 'yes' share will rise, potentially offering a more favorable value. However, it's important to remember that both represent probabilities based on different information and participant biases.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a 'yes' share fluctuates based on supply and demand; if more people buy, the price goes up, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This means the price reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd, and can change rapidly as new information becomes available or as the event draws nearer. The current price indicates the probability that traders assign to a team winning the first half.
This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The team leading at the end of the first half will be declared the winner, and that result will determine which shares pay out $1.00 and which expire at $0.00. The official result will be sourced from established sports data providers to ensure accuracy and transparency. Traders should monitor the event closely as it approaches to understand the potential implications for this market.
Several factors could significantly influence this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either team would likely cause price movement. Changes in starting lineups, weather conditions, or even pre-game analysis from respected sports commentators could also shift trader sentiment. Unexpected early performance in the game itself, such as a quick scoring run by one team, would almost certainly lead to rapid adjustments in the price of shares. Monitoring these signals can help you understand the evolving probabilities in this market.
