Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, incorporating a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders' beliefs about the outcome. If a significant number of traders believe a sportsbook has mispriced the probability of either team scoring first, the odds on Polymarket will adjust accordingly. It's common to see prediction markets outperform sportsbooks, especially when there's strong public interest or disagreement with the initial lines.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular team scoring first, the price of those shares increases, and the implied probability rises. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price reflects the collective intelligence of all participants, dynamically adjusting as new information becomes available and opinions shift.

This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team scores the first goal in the Philadelphia Union versus Real Salt Lake match. The official match records will serve as the basis for determining the winning outcome. Any disputes regarding the official result will be addressed according to Polymarket’s standard procedures, ensuring a fair and transparent resolution process.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Late-breaking news regarding injuries to key players on either the Union or Real Salt Lake would likely cause significant shifts in the odds. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they impact playing conditions, could also affect predictions. Furthermore, any pre-game analysis from reputable sports analysts or unexpected lineup announcements could trigger increased trading volume and price adjustments on Polymarket. Public sentiment and overall betting trends leading up to the match will also play a role.
