This market tracks the winner of the 2026 VidantaWorld Mexico Open golf tournament. Currently, the consensus probability that Austin Smotherman will win is 94.0%. This prediction is an aggregation of markets from Kalshi and Polymarket, and will resolve according to official results reported by https://www.pgatour.com/. The resolution rules account for potential discrepancies in player lists across platforms, with ties broken alphabetically by last name. Keep an eye on the tournament leaderboard as play concludes on November 1, 2026, to see if Smotherman maintains his lead through the final round.
This market will resolve according to the listed player who wins the 2026 VidantaWorld Mexico Open tournament. If a listed player is eliminated from contention for the VidantaWorld Mexico Open tournament based on the official rules of the tournament, the relevant market will immediately resolve to "No". If an unlisted player wins the VidantaWorld Mexico Open tournament this market will resolve to "Other". In the event of a tie, this market will resolve according to the official winner as determined by PGA Tour official tournament rules. If multiple winners are announced then this market will resolve to the player whose listed last name comes first alphabetically. If no winner is announced by November 7, 2026 at 7:00PM ET this market will resolve to "Other". The primary resolution source will be the official results published by the PGA Tour website (https://www.pgatour.com/).
All markets resolve based on the official tournament results. If a golfer forfeits, withdraws, or does not participate prior to teeing off, Tournament Winner and End of Round Leader markets resolve to No, while Finishing Position, Make the Cut, Head-to-Head, and 3-Ball markets resolve to Fair Market Value. The winner is determined by the player with the lowest total score after the final round, and all outcomes reflect the official standings regardless of pre-tournament withdrawals or changes.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering different insights than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines to balance action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven by traders who are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome. This can lead to discrepancies, especially when public sentiment strongly favors a particular golfer. However, both types of odds aim to represent the probability of each golfer winning, and significant differences can present opportunities for arbitrage. The current volume on this market suggests strong interest in several contenders.
Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to several factors. Each platform has a different user base with varying expertise and information. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Furthermore, trading volume and liquidity differ between the two venues, impacting price discovery. Polymarket might attract more casual bettors, while Kalshi could be favored by professional traders. These differing compositions can lead to varied risk assessments and, consequently, different probabilities assigned to each golfer. The differing fee structures on each platform can also contribute to price discrepancies.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official results published by the PGA Tour, identifying the golfer who wins the VidantaWorld Mexico Open. The platform will verify the winner against these sources to determine the outcome of this market. Trading will cease once the winner is officially declared, and payouts will be distributed accordingly to those who correctly predicted the champion.
Several factors could significantly shift the probabilities in this market. A golfer’s performance in preceding tournaments, changes in weather conditions at VidantaWorld, or even injury news could all influence trading activity. Unexpected withdrawals of key players would also likely cause substantial movement. Public endorsements or negative press regarding a golfer’s form could also impact the market. Monitoring these signals and the volume of $5,245,621 will be crucial for understanding how traders are reacting to new information as the tournament approaches.
