Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of bettors, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set initial lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, this market allows anyone to participate and express their beliefs. It’s common to see differences emerge, especially for events with inherent uncertainty or where public perception deviates from expert opinion. These discrepancies can arise from varying levels of information, differing risk assessments, or simply the influence of crowd psychology. Therefore, comparing the two can be a useful exercise for informed betting.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous exchange where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in whether an albatross will be scored at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares, the price increases, indicating growing confidence; conversely, selling pressure lowers the price. This dynamic process ensures that the market price constantly adapts to new information and changing sentiment. The current price represents the aggregated view of all traders participating in the market.

This market resolves around Oct 25, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether any golfer successfully scores an albatross during the entirety of the Butterfield Bermuda Championship tournament. An albatross is defined as completing a hole in three strokes under par. The result will be determined by official tournament records and verified against credible public sources, ensuring an accurate and transparent resolution process. The market will then close, and shares will be settled accordingly.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding the course conditions at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship, particularly if they make scoring an albatross more or less likely, could cause shifts. The performance of key golfers known for aggressive play or exceptional iron shots might also impact trading activity. Unexpected weather conditions, such as strong winds or heavy rain, could also play a role. Finally, any significant updates regarding player participation or injuries could also move the market as traders reassess the probabilities.
