Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set their lines based on statistical models and expert analysis, while this market aggregates the views of many individuals with varying levels of knowledge. It's common to see differences emerge, especially early in the market's life, as prediction markets can be more responsive to new information and shifts in public opinion. Comparing the two can provide a more comprehensive understanding of the perceived probability of a hole-in-one.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief about the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of a hole-in-one occurring at the Baycurrent Classic. As more people buy shares, the price increases, and vice versa. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price reflects the aggregate assessment of all participants, creating a dynamic and real-time estimate of the event’s likelihood. This differs from fixed-odds betting, as the odds are constantly adjusting based on supply and demand.

This market resolves around Oct 11, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will depend on whether a hole-in-one is officially recorded during the Baycurrent Classic tournament. The official tournament results will be used to determine if a hole-in-one occurred, and the market will settle accordingly. The outcome is based on the official scoring of the tournament, not on any subjective interpretation or individual reports. Any disputes will be resolved based on the official tournament records.

Several factors could influence the price of this market. Unexpected weather conditions at the Baycurrent Classic, such as strong winds or heavy rain, could make a hole-in-one less likely and potentially decrease the price. The performance of key golfers known for their accuracy could also impact trading activity. Any news regarding course conditions or changes to the tournament setup might also shift market sentiment. Finally, significant betting activity or large trades on Polymarket could also cause noticeable price movements as traders react to new information or adjust their positions.
