Typically, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than those found at sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often incorporate a 'vig' or commission into their odds, while this market reflects the collective judgment of traders who are incentivized to be accurate. If prediction market odds diverge significantly from sportsbook odds, it could indicate that the crowd believes the sportsbook is mispricing the event. However, it’s important to remember that both represent probabilities based on different methodologies and information sources. It’s always wise to consider both when forming your own assessment.
On Predict, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell contracts representing different outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. As more people buy contracts for a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. On Predict, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust its predictions accordingly. The current price reflects the collective wisdom of the crowd on Predict.
