Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set their odds to balance action and ensure profit, while this market allows traders to express their own probabilities. These differences can arise from varying levels of information and analytical approaches. If sportsbook odds heavily favor one team, but traders in this market believe the game will be closer, the prediction market odds will adjust accordingly. It's common to see prediction markets outperform traditional sportsbooks in accuracy, particularly as the event approaches.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome. The price of a share directly corresponds to the probability of that outcome occurring. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, reflecting growing confidence. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market's price is determined solely by supply and demand, driven by the collective intelligence of the traders participating. This dynamic pricing ensures the market reflects the most up-to-date information and expectations.

Unexpected changes in weather conditions, particularly if they favor one team's playing style, could also influence trading activity. Major upsets in other games involving these teams, or significant changes in coaching strategies, might also move the market. Public sentiment, as reflected in polls and expert analyses, can also play a role, though this market represents the aggregated view of informed traders.
