This market focuses on predicting the outcome of a specific segment of a college football game between Penn St. and Michigan. It evaluates whether one team will outscore the other by a certain margin during the third quarter, providing insight into potential momentum shifts within that timeframe.
The markets resolve based on the point differential between Penn St. and Michigan exclusively during the third quarter of their game scheduled for October 17, 2026. If Michigan wins by more than a specified margin—ranging from 2.5 to 10.5 points—the corresponding "Michigan wins by over X points" market resolves to Yes. Conversely, if Penn St. wins by more than the specified margin—also ranging from 2.5 to 10.5 points—the respective "Penn St. wins by over X points" market resolves to Yes. All markets exclusively consider points scored in the third quarter. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi explicitly disclaims any affiliation with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading based on their own information and beliefs. As a result, you may find that the implied probability of an outcome in this market differs from what sportsbooks are offering, potentially revealing insights into public sentiment or specialized knowledge about the game. It’s a good practice to compare both to form a well-rounded view.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads for the third quarter. The price of each contract reflects the market's current expectation of whether the actual spread will fall above or below that value. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders are incentivized to provide accurate predictions, as those who correctly anticipate the outcome profit from their trades. The more contracts bought for a specific spread, the higher the price rises, indicating increased confidence in that outcome. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to aggregate information efficiently.
This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final third-quarter spread of the Penn State vs Michigan football game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result reported by sports data providers and will determine which contracts pay out. The final score difference after the third quarter will be compared to the contract spreads to determine winning and losing positions. It's important to note that the official game result is the sole determinant of this market’s outcome.
Several factors could influence the price of contracts in this market leading up to Oct 17, 2026. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either Penn State or Michigan would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest adverse conditions, could also impact the spread. Furthermore, late-breaking news about team strategy or coaching decisions could shift market sentiment. Public perception, as reflected in polls or analyst predictions, may also play a role, though the market is ultimately driven by trading activity on Kalshi.
