Frequently asked questions

Often, prediction market odds reflect a wisdom-of-the-crowd perspective that differs from traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and to balance action, while this market represents the collective beliefs of traders. If a significant number of informed bettors believe a sportsbook's odds are mispriced, they can express that view through trading activity on Polymarket. This can lead to odds on Polymarket diverging from those found at sportsbooks, particularly as the event approaches and more information is factored in by market participants.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the likelihood of each outcome – either Paris FC or AS Monaco FC scoring first in the first half. As more shares are traded, the price of each share adjusts, reflecting the collective probability assigned by the market participants. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome occurring; a higher price indicates a greater perceived chance of success.

This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on which team, Paris FC or AS Monaco FC, scores the first goal during the first half of the match. The official match records will be used to determine the winning outcome. Any goals scored during extra time or a penalty shootout will not be considered for the purposes of this market’s resolution.

Several factors could influence trading activity in this market. Late-breaking news regarding player injuries or suspensions for either Paris FC or AS Monaco FC would likely cause significant movement. Team lineup announcements, particularly if a key goalscorer is unexpectedly benched, could also shift the odds. Even weather conditions on match day, such as heavy rain or strong winds, could impact perceived advantages and influence trading. Finally, any pre-match analysis from respected football commentators or analysts could sway market sentiment.
