Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds often reflect the collective wisdom of a diverse group of traders, which can differ from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish initial lines to balance their risk, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. If a significant number of traders believe the sportsbook’s odds are inaccurate, they can trade in a way that shifts the price on Polymarket to reflect their collective view. This can sometimes lead to prediction market odds being more accurate than traditional sportsbook lines.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing different outcomes. The price of each share reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as determined by supply and demand. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders buy shares in a particular outcome, its price increases, and vice versa. This dynamic pricing ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date information and collective beliefs of participants. The current trading volume indicates strong interest in predicting the second half result.
