Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance betting action and incorporate a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders expressing their beliefs about the probability of each team scoring first. If a significant discrepancy exists, arbitrage opportunities may arise, where traders can profit by betting on both the prediction market and a sportsbook. However, it’s important to note that sportsbooks and this market have different user bases and information sources, leading to varying perspectives.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in each outcome. The price of a share directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate and new information becomes available, the prices adjust accordingly, providing a dynamic assessment of the likelihood of Oxford United FC or Stevenage FC scoring first. The current implied probability of Oxford United FC scoring first is 50.0%.
This market resolves around Nov 7, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The official match records will serve as the determining factor, and the market will settle to 100% probability for the team that scored first, and 0% for the other. Any potential delays or postponements of the match will be reflected in the resolution timeline.
