The Academy Awards are presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) to honor outstanding artistic and technical achievements in film. For the 99th Academy Awards in 2027, nominations are scheduled to be announced on January 21, followed by the ceremony on March 14, 2027. This market will resolve to "Yes" if the listed film is nominated for the 99th Academy Award for Best Casting. If a film is not officially nominated for the Academy Award for Best Casting when the 2027 nominees are announced, the corresponding market will immediately resolve to "No". If, for any reason, no nominations are declared by March 14, 2027, 11:59 PM ET, this market will resolve to "No". The primary resolution source for this market will be official information from the Academy Awards and AMPAS, including data from their website (e.g., https://www.oscars.org/) and the live broadcast of the award ceremony; however, a consensus of credible reporting may also be used.

Currently, prediction market odds offer a different perspective than many traditional analyst forecasts for the Best Casting nominations. While analysts often rely on critical reception and awards buzz, this market reflects the collective wisdom of traders who are actively putting capital behind their beliefs. Discrepancies between the two can highlight overlooked candidates or differing interpretations of the awards landscape. It's important to note that analyst predictions are often qualitative, while this market provides a quantifiable, real-time assessment of probabilities.
On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the probability of each potential nominee receiving a Best Casting nomination. The price of a share directly corresponds to the implied probability of that outcome. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market efficiently incorporates new information as it becomes available, reflecting the evolving expectations of traders. Higher demand for a particular nominee's shares will drive up the price, indicating increased confidence in their chances.
This market resolves around Mar 15, 2027, with the outcome confirmed once the official nominations for the Best Casting category are announced by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and are verifiable from credible public reporting. The market will settle to 100% for the nominees who are officially announced, and 0% for those who are not. Traders should monitor the official Academy Awards announcements to understand how this market will be resolved.
Several signals could significantly impact this market. Early awards announcements from guilds like the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) are often strong indicators of Oscar potential. Critical reviews of films released in the qualifying period will also influence trader sentiment. Unexpected campaign pushes by studios for specific performances could shift the odds. Finally, any major industry news or controversies surrounding potential nominees could create volatility in this market leading up to the nomination announcements.
