This set of markets tracks how many points each team scores in an upcoming college football game. Each market corresponds to a specific point threshold for a team, determining whether they exceed that threshold during the match.
All markets resolve based on the official final point totals of Appalachian State and Old Dominion in their college football game scheduled for October 10, 2026. For each market, if the specified team scores more than the stated point threshold, the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, the markets remain open and resolve according to the actual result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the specific point thresholds listed.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals trading based on their own information and beliefs. As a result, you may find that the implied probabilities in this market diverge from those offered by sportsbooks, potentially offering opportunities for informed traders. It's common to see prediction markets more accurately forecast outcomes, especially as the event approaches.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different team total outcomes. The price of each contract reflects the market's current expectation of that outcome's probability. As more traders buy a contract, its price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market depth, or the number of buy and sell orders at various price levels, indicates the liquidity and potential price impact of larger trades. Traders are constantly adjusting their positions based on new information, leading to dynamic price movements.
This market resolves around Oct 10, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final team totals for Old Dominion and Appalachian State are verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official statistics released following the completion of the game. The specific team totals will be compared against the contract ranges offered on Kalshi to determine which contracts will pay out and at what value. Traders who correctly predicted the team totals will receive a payout based on the contract's price at resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. News regarding key player injuries or suspensions for either Old Dominion or Appalachian State would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favorable to one team's style of play, could also impact trading activity. Unexpected coaching decisions or shifts in team strategy could also move the market. Finally, any significant public information, such as updated power rankings or expert analysis, might influence traders' expectations and lead to price adjustments.
