This market focuses on predicting the outcome of a specific segment of a college football game between Oklahoma State and Houston. It centers on whether one team will outscore the other by a certain margin during the third quarter, providing insight into potential in-game momentum shifts.
The markets resolve based on the point differential between Oklahoma State and Houston exclusively during the third quarter of their college football game scheduled for October 17, 2026. If Houston wins by more than the specified margin (10.5, 7.5, 6.5, 3.5, or 2.5 points), the corresponding Houston markets resolve to Yes. Conversely, if Oklahoma State wins by more than the specified margin (2.5, 3.5, 6.5, 7.5, or 10.5 points), the corresponding Oklahoma State markets resolve to Yes. Only points scored in the third quarter count toward these outcomes. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of the original start time, the markets remain active and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of its scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. While sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and risk assessment, this market allows a broader range of participants to express their beliefs about the outcome. It’s common to see initial discrepancies between the two, as prediction markets can incorporate information and analysis that sportsbooks may not immediately factor in. Over time, these odds tend to converge as the event approaches and more information is revealed, though differences can persist due to varying motivations of participants.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads for the third quarter. The price of each contract reflects the probability of that spread occurring, as determined by supply and demand. Traders are incentivized to accurately predict the outcome, as they profit if their predictions are correct. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The market’s price movements are driven by the collective intelligence of the participants, making it a dynamic and informative indicator of expectations.
This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final third-quarter spread of the Oklahoma State vs Houston game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official result reported by the governing body of the game. Traders holding contracts on the correct spread will receive a payout of $1.00 per contract, while those holding contracts on incorrect spreads will receive $0.00. The market will close prior to the end of the game to prevent any last-minute manipulation.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Oklahoma State or Houston teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they are expected to impact the game's playing conditions, could also shift expectations. Additionally, any updates on team strategies or coaching decisions, as well as public sentiment expressed through polls or expert analysis, could all contribute to fluctuations in the market price. Unexpected line movements in traditional sportsbooks could also trigger adjustments in this market.
