This set of markets tracks how many points each team scores in an upcoming college football game. Each market corresponds to a specific point threshold, and the outcome depends on whether the team's actual score exceeds that threshold.
All markets resolve based on the official final point totals for Ohio State and USC in their college football game scheduled for October 31, 2026. For each market, if the specified team scores more than the stated point threshold (e.g., USC over 6.5 points or Ohio State over 9.5 points), the market resolves to Yes; otherwise, it resolves to No. If the game is postponed but commences within 48 hours of its original start time, the markets remain open and resolve according to the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours of the scheduled time, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the specific point thresholds.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from those offered by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action on both sides, while this market allows traders to directly express their beliefs about the likelihood of different outcomes. Discrepancies can arise due to differing information, biases, or simply the dynamic nature of trading. It’s common to see prediction markets move faster than sportsbook odds in response to new information or significant events related to the Ohio State vs USC game.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing their predictions. The price of a contract indicates the probability of that outcome occurring, with higher prices suggesting a greater likelihood. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. Traders set the odds based on their own analysis and expectations, and the market price adjusts dynamically as new information becomes available and trading volume fluctuates. The current price reflects the collective assessment of all participants trading in this market.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final team totals for the Ohio State vs USC game are verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the official statistics released by the governing body of the game, ensuring an objective and transparent determination of the winning outcome. Traders holding contracts on the correct team total will receive a payout, while those holding contracts on incorrect totals will not.
Several factors could influence the price of contracts in this market leading up to Nov 1, 2026. Key player injuries or suspensions for either the Ohio State or USC teams would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favorable to one team’s style of play, could also shift the market. Unexpected news regarding team strategy, coaching decisions, or even player morale could also contribute to price movements, as traders adjust their predictions based on new information.
