These markets track the point differential in the first half of an upcoming college football game between Ohio State and USC. Outcomes are determined by whether Ohio State or USC achieves specific point margins over their opponent during the initial 30 minutes of play.
All markets resolve based solely on points scored during the first half of the Ohio St. vs USC college football game scheduled for Oct 31, 2026. Each market corresponds to a specific point threshold that either team must exceed to resolve as 'Yes'. If Ohio St. meets or exceeds any of the thresholds listed from 2.5 to 23.5 points above USC, the respective market resolves to 'Yes'. Conversely, if USC meets or exceeds any of the thresholds from 2.5 to 14.5 points above Ohio St., the corresponding market resolves to 'Yes'. Should the game be postponed but commence within 48 hours of its original start time, all markets remain active and resolve based on the official first-half result. If the game fails to start within this 48-hour window, all markets resolve to a fair price, ensuring equitable treatment for all participants regardless of the specific outcome thresholds.
Generally, prediction market odds tend to reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often proving more accurate than traditional sportsbook odds, especially in the lead-up to an event. Sportsbooks may incorporate biases or seek to profit from public perception, while this market allows participants to directly express their beliefs about the outcome. However, sportsbook odds can be a useful point of comparison, and significant discrepancies might indicate opportunities for informed traders. It's important to remember that both represent probabilities, but are derived through different mechanisms.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing different point spreads. The price of each contract reflects the market's collective assessment of the probability of that spread occurring in the first half of the Ohio State-USC game. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to incorporate new information and perspectives, creating a dynamic and real-time forecast. The closer we get to the game, the more the price will likely move as new information becomes available.
This market resolves around Nov 1, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the official first-half spread of the Ohio State-USC game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on the final official result as reported by a trusted source for college football scores. Traders holding contracts on the correct spread will receive a payout, while those holding contracts on incorrect spreads will not. The precise details of the payout are determined by the contract price at resolution.
Several factors could influence the price of this market. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either the Ohio State or USC teams would likely cause significant movement. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favoring one team's style of play, could also impact trading activity. Furthermore, any major shifts in public perception, perhaps driven by expert analysis or updated power rankings, could lead to changes in the price of contracts. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or team dynamics could also play a role.
