Frequently asked questions

Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks often set initial lines to balance action, while this market allows traders to freely adjust probabilities based on their own analysis and information. If there's a significant discrepancy, it could indicate that the market believes a sportsbook has mispriced the event, or that new information hasn't yet been fully incorporated into sportsbook lines. Examining these differences can offer valuable insights into where potential value lies, and how public sentiment aligns with professional analysis.

On Polymarket, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism where traders buy and sell shares representing their belief in the outcome of the second half. The price of these shares directly reflects the implied probability of that outcome occurring. On Polymarket, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the market price adjusts to reflect the collective assessment of the event. Higher demand for shares in a particular outcome will drive up its price, indicating increased confidence in that result. The current price represents the market's best estimate of the likelihood of that outcome.
