These markets track the total points scored by both teams in the second half of an upcoming college football game, including any overtime periods. Each market has a different threshold for the total points needed to resolve as 'Yes'.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams combined in the second half (including overtime) of the Notre Dame vs BYU college football game scheduled for October 17, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold: if the combined second-half points exceed the threshold (2.5, 6.5, 9.5, 13.5, 16.5, 19.5, 20.5, 23.5, 27.5, 30.5, 34.5, 37.5, or 41.5 points), the market resolves to 'Yes'; otherwise, it resolves to 'No'. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored in the second half count toward these markets.
Generally, prediction market odds often reflect the 'wisdom of the crowd' and can differ from traditional sportsbook odds. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and need to account for a profit margin, while this market is driven purely by traders' beliefs. If a significant number of people believe the second half will be high-scoring, the price for the 'Over' outcome will increase, potentially moving further away from initial sportsbook lines. It's common to see discrepancies, especially as new information emerges and public opinion shifts leading up to the game.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism. Traders buy and sell contracts representing their belief about whether the total points scored in the second half of the Notre Dame vs BYU game will be over or under 6.5. The price of a contract represents the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. As more traders participate, the price adjusts to reflect the collective expectation, creating a dynamic and real-time assessment of the potential game outcome.
This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the final score of the second half of the Notre Dame vs BYU game is verifiable from credible public reporting. The total points scored in the second half will be tallied, and the market will settle based on whether that total is above or below 6.5. All trading will cease once the game concludes and the official results are available, ensuring a clear and definitive outcome for all participants in this market.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before the game concludes. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Notre Dame or BYU would likely cause significant movement, as it impacts scoring potential. Weather conditions, particularly if they are expected to be severe, could also shift expectations. Furthermore, live game developments during the first half – such as a dominant offensive performance by one team – could lead traders to adjust their predictions and impact the price of this market.
