This set of markets tracks how many points Notre Dame and BYU will score together in the first quarter of their college football game. Each market has a different threshold for the total points needed to meet or exceed that threshold.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams combined during the first quarter of play in the Notre Dame vs BYU college football game scheduled for October 17, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold (ranging from over 2.5 points to over 27.5 points); if the combined score meets or exceeds the threshold, the market resolves to Yes. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored in the first quarter count toward these markets.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to trade based on their own analysis. This can lead to discrepancies, especially as new information emerges or public sentiment shifts. It’s common to see prediction markets incorporate information faster than sportsbooks, potentially offering a more accurate assessment of the likely outcome. However, sportsbook odds remain a valuable benchmark for comparison.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous auction mechanism, where traders buy and sell contracts representing their predictions about the total score in the first quarter. The price of a contract represents the probability of that outcome occurring. As more people buy contracts predicting a certain score range, the price increases, and vice versa. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing reflects the collective intelligence of the traders participating in the market, and it’s constantly adjusting based on new information and changing sentiment. The current price reflects what traders believe is the most likely outcome.
This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The final score of the first quarter between Notre Dame and BYU will be used to determine the winning contracts. The resolution will be based on the official game statistics, as reported by a trusted sports data source. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the actual total score in the first quarter will receive a payout, while those holding losing contracts will forfeit their investment.
Several factors could influence the price of this market before it resolves. Any news regarding injuries to key players on either team, changes in weather conditions, or significant shifts in public perception could all cause the market to move. Unexpected announcements about team strategy or coaching decisions could also impact trading activity. Furthermore, large-volume trades by informed participants could signal new information or a change in sentiment, potentially triggering further price fluctuations. Monitoring these signals can provide valuable insights into the evolving expectations surrounding the Notre Dame vs BYU game.
