These markets track the total points scored by both teams in the first half of a college football game between Notre Dame and BYU. Each market has a different threshold for the total points needed to resolve as 'Yes'.
All markets resolve based on the total points scored by both teams combined during the first half of the Notre Dame vs BYU college football game scheduled for October 17, 2026. Each market has a specific threshold (ranging from over 2.5 points to over 41.5 points); if the combined first-half score exceeds the threshold, the market resolves to 'Yes'. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of the original time, the markets remain open and resolve based on the official result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, all markets resolve to a fair price. Only points scored in the first half count toward resolution.
Typically, prediction market odds reflect the wisdom of the crowd, often differing from initial sportsbook lines. Sportsbooks set odds based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, incorporating a profit margin. This market, however, is driven by individuals willing to put their capital behind their beliefs. As more information becomes available – such as injury reports or weather forecasts – and as the event approaches, the odds on Kalshi may converge with or diverge from sportsbook odds, depending on how the crowd interprets the new data compared to the sportsbook’s adjustments.
On Kalshi, this market is priced using a continuous double auction. Traders buy and sell contracts representing different possible outcomes for the Notre Dame vs BYU 1st half total. The price of each contract reflects the market’s collective assessment of its probability. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. The more traders believe an outcome is likely, the higher the price of its corresponding contract will climb. Conversely, if sentiment shifts towards a different outcome, the price of that contract will decrease. This dynamic pricing mechanism ensures that the market reflects the most up-to-date information and expectations.
This market resolves around Oct 18, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. Resolution will be based on the official first-half total points scored in the Notre Dame vs BYU football game, as reported by a trusted sports data provider. The platform will verify the result against these sources to determine which contracts will pay out. Traders holding contracts corresponding to the correct first-half total will receive a payout based on the contract’s price at the time of resolution.
Several factors could significantly impact this market. Any news regarding key player injuries for either Notre Dame or BYU would likely cause price fluctuations. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest adverse conditions impacting scoring, could also move the market. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or significant shifts in public sentiment, as reflected in polls or expert analysis, could also influence trading activity. Finally, large-volume trades on Kalshi by informed participants could create momentum and drive price changes in either direction.
