This set of markets tracks how many touchdowns each team scores through passes during their game. It focuses specifically on offensive plays where a player catches the ball and runs it into the end zone without losing possession.
All markets resolve based on the official number of receiving touchdowns scored by each team in the Northwestern vs Michigan St. college football game scheduled for Oct 17, 2026, including any overtime periods. A receiving touchdown is defined as a player catching a forward pass and scoring without losing possession, including cases where the player recovers their own fumble and scores. Touchdowns scored by other players after recovering a fumble by the original receiver do not count. Successful two-point conversions, regardless of when they occur, are excluded from all counts. If the game is postponed but starts within 48 hours of its original time, markets remain open and resolve based on the final result. If the game does not start within 48 hours, markets resolve to a fair price. Kalshi explicitly states it is not affiliated with the NCAA, and all trademarks remain property of their respective owners.
Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially differing from those set by sportsbooks. Sportsbooks establish lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market aggregates the beliefs of many individual traders. If a significant number of people believe a particular outcome is more likely than sportsbooks suggest, the odds in this market will shift accordingly. It's common to see discrepancies, especially before a lot of trading occurs, as the market discovers its own price based on available information and participant perspectives.
On Kalshi, this market is priced through a continuous order book where traders buy and sell contracts representing each possible outcome. The price of a contract reflects the probability of that outcome occurring, as perceived by the market participants. As more traders buy contracts for a particular outcome, its price increases, and the price of other outcomes decreases. On Kalshi, prices reflect that venue's order book, liquidity, and how traders price the outcome right now. This dynamic pricing mechanism allows the market to quickly incorporate new information and adjust its predictions in real-time, based on supply and demand for each contract.
This market resolves around Oct 17, 2026, with the outcome confirmed once the event is verifiable from credible public reporting. The resolution will be based on which team has more receiving touchdowns during the Northwestern vs Michigan State game. Official game statistics will be used to determine the winner, and the market will settle to 100 for the outcome that corresponds to the actual result. Traders holding contracts for the winning outcome will receive a payout, while those holding contracts for the losing outcome will not.
Several factors could influence trading activity and shift the odds in this market. News regarding key player injuries for either Northwestern or Michigan State would likely have a significant impact. Changes in weather forecasts, particularly if they suggest conditions favorable to a passing or running game, could also move the market. Unexpected announcements about coaching strategies or team dynamics could also influence trader sentiment. Finally, any major shifts in public perception, even those not directly related to the teams, could affect trading volume and price discovery.
