Prediction market odds often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while this market allows anyone to express their belief about the outcome. As a result, you may find discrepancies between the implied probabilities in this market and those offered by sportsbooks. These differences can stem from varying information sources, differing levels of expertise among participants, and the incentive structures of each venue. It’s valuable to compare both to inform your own assessment.
Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi can diverge due to several factors. Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract.
