PredictionHero - Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA)

Divergence Detected

Issue: Polymarket offers a wider range of markets (spread, over/under) in addition to the winner, while Kalshi only offers a binary 'either team wins' market. This creates a divergence in trading strategies and potential outcomes.Hero tip: Focus on the specific market you are trading on each platform. Kalshi’s market is essentially a 'game happens' market, while Polymarket’s markets require a more precise prediction of the game’s outcome.

Critical divergence points:

  • Polymarket: Offers multiple markets including winner, spread (with varying point differentials), and over/under total points. Resolution is based on the final game score and point spread. "If the game is postponed, this market will remain open until the game has been completed. If the game is canceled entirely, with no make-up game, this market will resolve 50-50."
  • Kalshi: Offers a single binary market resolving to 'Yes' if either North Dakota or Northern Iowa wins the game. The logic is simply 'if either team wins, it resolves to Yes'. "If Northern Iowa wins the North Dakota vs Northern Iowa college football game originally scheduled for Oct 10, 2026, then the market resolves to Yes. If North Dakota wins the North Dakota vs Northern Iowa college football game originally scheduled for Oct 10, 2026, then the market resolves to Yes."
Our PredictionHero Resolution Divergence Alerts (RDA) are there to help users identify potential differences across platforms. They do not replace or supersede the official rules and description of any prediction market. Users are solely responsible for reviewing and understanding the applicable rules and resolution criteria before placing any trade or bet. If you notice a potential inconsistency, discrepancy, or error in an alert, please report it to our team so we can review and improve the accuracy of our data.

Frequently asked questions

Prediction market odds, like those found on Polymarket and Kalshi for this market, often reflect the wisdom of the crowd, potentially offering a different perspective than traditional sportsbooks. Sportsbooks set lines based on their own models and aim to balance action on both sides, while prediction markets allow participants to freely express their beliefs. This can lead to discrepancies, particularly when public sentiment strongly diverges from a sportsbook’s initial assessment. It’s common to see prediction markets react more quickly to new information, such as injuries or weather reports, influencing the price of this market.

Polymarket and Kalshi can show different implied probabilities for the same outcome because of liquidity, fee structure, participant mix, and how each venue defines the contract. Prices on Polymarket and Kalshi may differ due to variations in trader demographics, market structure, and liquidity. Each platform attracts a different user base with potentially varying levels of expertise regarding college basketball. Furthermore, the specific market types offered – for example, a spread versus a simple win/loss outcome – can influence pricing. Trading fees and platform-specific rules also contribute to these differences, impacting the incentives for traders on each venue and thus the price discovery process for the North Dakota vs. Northern Iowa game.
